Southside Baptist Pastor of Children and Youth

Brief description of Southside – Southside is a multigenerational church with a blended worship style and an average Sunday attendance of 160+. We are a local church that emphasizes genuine community and connection within the church and with our neighbors. We hold fast to Biblical truths and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. 

 

Vision of Southside – Southside’s vision is to amplify our commitment to flourishing in healthy relationships with Jesus Christ and believers, through transformation by God’s grace in our own lives and in the life of the church (Ephesians 4:15-16). 

 

Job Summary

Southside is searching for a full-time Pastor of Children and Youth who will have oversight over all ministries for young people ages 0-18. This pastor will unite with our church’s mission and welcome children and youth to raise up and send out mature followers of Christ.

  • Welcome– embracing all ethnicities, all generations, and diverse families with children and youth.
  • Raise up– equipping children and youth with a solid foundation and knowledge of the faith and mentoring leaders to support the development of our children as they grow up in the church
  • Send out– commissioning mature followers of Christ, who when entering adulthood, have a desire to serve in ministry inside and outside of the church.

 

Spiritual Qualifications

  • A testimony of a saving and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • An ability and eagerness to share the gospel with others
  • Deep-rooted conviction to help children/youth come to a saving and lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ

 

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Biblical theological training
  • Ordained or in the process of ordination
  • At least 3 years experience working with children or youth
  • Understanding of development of children and youth (Preferred)
  • Child safety training (Preferred)

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral care, guidance, leadership, and support for all Children and Youth Ministry volunteers, children, parents, and families in their ongoing faith and spiritual development
  • Welcome in new families/guests with children/youth on Sundays and make them feel valued
  • Create a safe and secure area for children/youth of all abilities
  • Evaluate the current needs of our church and allocate time to areas that need the most support related to children/youth and their families
  • Develop a comprehensive discipleship plan to welcome, teach, equip, and commission children and youth into the total life of the body of Christ, including implementing a curriculum that grows with age (0-18)
  • Oversee all programs and events, including budgets and calendar, related to Children and Youth Ministry
  • Develop and train volunteers that serve in the Children and Youth Ministry
  • Equip and support leaders to carry out events, milestones, and special services like graduation, VBS, camps for youth and children 
  • Be a joyful champion and ambassador of all persons, ministries, and church leadership of Southside
  • Reports to Senior Pastor
