Title: Associate Pastor of Worship and Communications ($40-$55k)

Southside Baptist Church in Mooresville, North Carolina is seeking a pastor to lead our worship and communications ministry. The ideal candidate is a man with a pastor’s heart for growing a worshipping community. This person should be able to lead an intergenerational congregation in a blended worship service, overseeing all music and production as well as weekly communication within the church, and especially to our surrounding community. 

We are an intentionally intergenerational church that has been an integral part of the Mooresville community for over 100 years. Before the Pandemic we averaged 180-200 in our Sunday worship service, and 130-150 since the Pandemic started. Mooresville is a growing city part of the Lake Norman Community just north of Charlotte. We are located near the historic downtown, within 10 minutes of the Lowe’s Corporate Office. 

Job Summary 

The Pastor of Worship and Communications is responsible to the church under the supervision of the Senior Pastor for providing leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music and communications program. 

Responsibilities: 

1) Coordinate the church music ministry with the church calendar and emphases of the church, developing and implementing creative weekly worship services and special church events. 2) Assist the Pastor in planning congregational services and be responsible for music, multi-media and other elements of the service. 

3) Prepare and submit annual budget request to the finance committee and oversee the spending of these funds. 

4) Organize and maintain a library of church music. 

5) Supervise the church’s hired musicians and sanctuary choir in the performance of their duties. 6) Direct and lead sanctuary choir volunteers as well as oversee and give leadership to all other choirs, drama, creative ministries and music groups within the church. 

7) Be responsible for the sound system and projection equipment, training technicians to ensure the proper performance of the system while seeking opportunities to improve its effectiveness. 8) Be available for weddings and funerals, as able, with details on pay to be worked out with the parties involved. 

9) Share in other pastoral ministries of the church including visiting the sick, home-bound and prospects. 

10) Provide visionary leadership for the worship ministry of the church. 

11) Be responsible for any and all online and on-campus church communications. 12) Serve as a staff resource for the Communications Work Team. 

13) Perform all other duties as assigned by the Pastor and Personnel Committee.

Job requirements: 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 5-years of worship leadership and ministry experience 
  • Ordained or able to pursue ordination Southern Baptist Convention 
  • Must be coachable with strong organizational skills
